Our Sustainable Vision

Sustainbility is at the heart of everything we do at Little Warden.

Why is Sustainability important to us?

We believe sustainable living  is key to protecting and helping the planet be better for us and future generations.

Our field is important because it is a source of physical and mental well being to all those that visit Little Warden. A healthy, natural environment is also important to us, our rescue horses and our sheep too!

In order to create a healthy enviroment, we need to encourage biodiversity which will encourage plants and wildlife to thrive; be mindful about how we use resources and endeavour to work hard to miminise waste.

How do we manage our land sustainably?

As good practice Little Warden follows the 3 R’s, which are Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Below are some of the ways we try work towards the 3Rs:

  • Reduce – water consumption (use less water from the tap) by harvesting rainwater and reduce the use of weedkillers and cleaning chemicals.
  • Reuse – plastics container for storing and carrying liquids and reuse pallets for storing our hay.
  • Recyle – items regarded as rubbish, for example, turing pallets turned into gate and making wellies into plant pots.

Our comimmtment

  • Recycle 100% of all our brown cardboard waste, horse manure and plant waste.
  • Continue to reduce the use of cleaning chemical, weedkillers and reduce water consumption

Sustainable Goals for the Future

  • To continue find creative ways to recyle and reuse items potentially heading for land fill.
  • To become more self sufficient growing our own plants and food.
  • To find creative ways to connect with local businesses interested in sustainability.
  • To continue to plant more trees!
